LASIK Aftermath.

Posted June 29th, 2008 by minicloud

I went to sleep immediately after I got home from LASIK surgery.

It feels as though someone bashed my eye and it felt really sore. WHen I try to open my eyes, it just felt like someone was shining bright light at me and it was just too strenuous on my eye muscles to keep them open.

The surgery itself was pretty bearable. The clinic made a good effort to make all patients make sure that they understand the process, how it is done and the aftercare. I knew exactly what’s going on and what was going to come later, the sensation itself is bearable, there was absolutely NO PAIN involved in the process of the surgery. There was some discomfort but it’s feels pretty okay.

I could see immediately after the surgery. And having perfect eyesight is such a gift. But the healing process as everything just rushes in to heal the area was described as above. I highly recommend just going to sleep immediately after you get home.

I just got home and I had a surreal feeling of wanting to go to the toilet to remove my contact lens….except I don’t need them anymore~!!! I just hope that the healing process would be okay.
Right now my vision fluctuates, sometimes it’s blurrier than other times. I take some time to get used to looking at lights when it’s dark but I guess it’s all part of healing. I’m taking care not to touch my eye area and putting on eyedrops every hour to aid in healing the cornea.

That’s all for now.

Sewing for Arianne

Posted June 27th, 2008 by minicloud

Ladies and gentlemen,

I present thee, Arianne.

dsc02530.JPG

This is the result of 5hours of mad sewing.
The buttons and some small things here and there are still unfinished.
But I have never been prouder of my sewing. And I have new admirations for people who sew doll clothings.

And I love her so so so so much.

Irresponsible Parenting

Posted June 17th, 2008 by minicloud

Ok, I’m not a parent myself but at least I have some common sense.
My post will possibly be offending to some, but honestly I think there is at least some thought and justification put into this post.

I was watching M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happening” nothing much on the movie, maybe some scene spoilers but no plot spoilers here.

So I was at AMK hub watching this movie and unfortunately for us, we were one of the last to enter the theater although the movie hasn’t started yet. The point being, most of the people are already seated.

ANY Tom, Dick, Harry and their mother would know that this movie is a drama/sci-fi with some gore and blood. Not so much of horror but there’s definitely gore.

Not for some of the parents who are watching the movie.

There were at least 2 families seated around me (and I didn’t even see the other people in other areas of the theater) with a total of 3 children under 10 years old watching the movie.

Sure enough, there was gore. There were lions ripping off a guy’s arm, tonnes of people dead from suicide.
Children especially those at a young age are extremely impressionable.
Violence at a young age can cause emotional instability and trauma.
This movie has especially placed the concept of suicide into their minds. There were people cutting themselves with broken glass, jumping off buildings and shooting themselves in the head with a gun. What in the right mind of these parents allow their children to be exposed to such ideas?????

There was a kid sitting RIGHT beside me, sobbing when some of the people in the movie were committing suicide and the mother was just hugging him and trying to comfort him saying it’s ok.
IT DOES NOT WORK THIS WAY. HOW IS IT OKAY????

I would just bring the kid out at the first sight of violence and bring him for ice cream, make him forget that we even went into the theater and bring him to the next screening of Kungfu Panda.
I don’t care if I waste the 10bucks of what ever it is I spent on the movie ticket for the whole family. This is not the right way.

And also, I also question Singapore’s ratings on the movie. If they enforce NC-16 or M-18 or R-21. I don’t see why they should not enforce a PG movie.
And I also question the rating on this movie for Singapore. Just look at the following ratings for this movie in different countries:
Portugal:M/16
UK:15 |
Germany:16 (cut) |
Norway:15 |
Australia:MA |
USA:R (Rated R for violent and disturbing images)
South Korea:18 |
Hong Kong:IIB |
Ireland:15A |
Singapore:PG |
New Zealand:R13 |
Finland:K-15 |
Philippines:R-13

Singapore is the ONLY one which is rated PG. WHY?
Can parental guidance really just rid the child of the concept of suicide? Cos throughout the ENTIRE 91mins, it was suicide.

My stand is that given that the cinema doesn’t enforce ratings on their viewers, parent themselves must practice discretion and take necessary actions not to instill adverse thoughts into their children, 10 or 15 years down the road, you’re going to suffer the consequences of your irresponsible parenting.

Common sense is not so common nowadays apparently.

Arianne’s clothes

Posted June 11th, 2008 by minicloud

I never realised how hard it is to sew for a doll until now.

I have officially completed sewing the ugliest piece of shit I’ve ever sewn in my life.

The pride I used to hold for sewing decent stuff within a short span of time has gone down the drain.

This piece of clothing has humbled and shamed me.

A few points to note when srsly sewing for a Yo.

try not to sew bitchy fabrics like chiffon, georgette and organza.
Lining=madness.
Shirring on a 1/6scale body is suicide.
My first attempt has completely phailed.
Arianne could probably be better off naked. T____T
she’s still pretty to me though…

I need more practice.

Posted June 4th, 2008 by minicloud

  • I thought I would be spending my birthday in Singapore.
  • I was kinda sleepy.
  • I was called to replace a champion who didn’t turn up for work.
  • I had to pack my bags and go immediately.
  • I was still in a daze and shocked at where I am going.
    18 hours later
  • My bags are still messy from throwing all my stuff in.
  • I’m wearing the same contacts as I did since 11am last morning.
  • Still kinda sleepy.
  • Still in a daze.
  • Typing this entry in Frankfurt.
  • And spending my birthday in New York.

I believe God has some type of message for me in New York. (and I’m not even religious)
We’ll wait and see.
