Travel Log: Cairo, Egypt

Posted February 5th, 2007 by minicloud

So~ I travelled to Dubai and Egypt for the past week. (that explains my disappearance) Dubai was a little ho-hum cos I didn’t get much time there anyway.

Egypt was a blast, the camels smelled funky and the pyramids were dancing to my self-composed egyptian tunes.

I went to the museum on the first day.

The museum reminded me of the old Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts campus. Where they put plenty of sculptures in a space in a random order.
The museum building itself is huge, no arguments on that, but there was no lighting, no strategic placements of the exhibits and no labels explaining what all the exhibits are about. Not forgetting there’re no cameras allowed. I noticed this bandaged thingy in a random shelf and i dun even haf any idea what it is and I can’t take a picture of it. booOo….

The second day was much better. My colleague and I headed out to a desert pyramid tour and lucky for us, this is probably one of the best times for it. It’s not hot and the skies are clear.
Our guide was so funny he mentioned that he’ll take us to a spot where we can take a “magic photo”, propped us on top of a huge rock, made us stick out our hand and took a photo.

This is what we ended up with:

Camels are hard to ride, I keep sliding off to the right side and I end up with sore muscles that i didn’t know existed. I guess I walk like an egyptian now.

As we all know, the nose and beard of the Sphinx is missing. It’s with the British now. My guide was telling me how he hoped they’ll return it.

i think so too, it feels like a Michael Jackson surgery gone wrong.

PS: horses can shit while walking but camels can’t pee while walking…they will stand at the spot and pee first.
