Travel Log: Paris, France

eiffel tower, be jealous, be very very jealous.

Oh man, I’m sorry for the lack of updates. I have actually been working on the layout of this website for some time now, but being a programming idiot, it’s still gonna look quite weird until I manage to sort things out. So yeah, just look at the typing first while there’s a lack of pretty graphics.

In any case, I was back from Paris 2 days ago. I love Paris. The food’s expensive though and whether it’s good or lousy food, it’s all expensive.

I went to Paris with the intent of walking around on my own given my past experience when I was in Zurich where most of my colleagues choose not to go out. However, this time, I had the company of a fellow colleague and a very very nice senior. :3

We went shopping the on the first day and as true as the “rumors” might be, Louis Vuitton is really much cheaper in Paris. Even other brands like Gucci, Prada and Dior. And what luck we have, most of these brands (except for Louis Vuitton) have items on sale~! And we get 12% tax refund~ woo hoo~!!

But anyway, Let me just rave about the beautiful architecture in Paris. The hotel is situated near the City central, just minutes away from the Arc d’Triumph.

We spent 6hours walking around Champs Elysee, shopping and buying gifts for other people. And that was about how we spent the first day. Being very bored, my Paris travelling companion, Lionel decided to just drink beer in the lounge. I usually have beer but I had this beer that was citrus-y. Too bad it’s not available in Sg. A little beer is also good for a good night’s rest, after the beer I basically knocked-out after I reached my room.

Lionel and I met up with another colleague for breakfast. Cheese and ham melted on toast topped with a beautiful sunny side up egg. yum~

The rest of the day was jammed packed. We headed down to Galleries Lafayette for some shopping first as we heard there was a sale down there…so true so true. when they say “sale” they mean “SALE”. We see designer goods on 50% sale~!

After that we took the train from Opera station to Palais Royal Musee du Lourve or the Lourve Museum for short. At this point of time, I imagine Hui stabbing herself. *hmm*

And it’s pic spam now~!

There were 3 sections of the museum, Sulley, Richelieu and Denon. Denon is where the Mona Lisa resides. Unfortunately, I don’t have pics of her since they’re not allowed and there were too many guards there to even try and sneak a pic. Before reaching the room where she is, we were greeted with tonnes and tonnes of beautiful Renaissance paintings which were 3 times my height. It’s amazing to see all these paintings of which most were related to Christianity. We didn’t manage to cover all 3 sections but I’m pleased to say we cover at least 2 1/2. The main important sections like the Spanish and French paintings and the Renaissance sculptures were covered. We were pretty miffed with walking through the Egyptian exhibits cause we wanted to see the French exhibits dammit.

And we got tired and ended up making fun of the sculptures.

Paris Subway is really confusing.

But it’s alright if you get used to it.

We headed to the Eiffel Tower next…and to be honest, I wasn’t really too impressed with it. The queue to go up the tower was longgggggg and I frankly wasn’t too eager to freeze my butt off on the top, I opt to shoot at the bottom of it. :D

It’s just as nice here.

We then wanted to make our way back to Champs Elysee for more shopping but Lionel made the deadly mistake of chasing after a train. NEVER EVER CHASE AFTER A TRAIN Different lines share the same track and platform and being very accurate thus far with the navigation, we got a little complacent. So obviously, we got on the wrong train and wasted around an hour trying to get back.

We got back eventually and had our dinner at thhis restaurant near the hotel. It was a mussels restaurant and man~!!! I love it~! I’ve never been a fan of shellfish and I hated mussels in Sg especially those in Fish&co, they look really vulgar and fishy. but the ones I had was perfect. yum~!!!

Den it was sleep until it was time to go back.
And thanks to Lionel for being my trusty companion.

I love Paris. :D
